Workshops:
Introduction to Restorative Justice: This Workshop is designed to provide Teachers, Students, and Administrator's with a general overview of Restorative Practices, both formal and informal. Restorative Justice is a paradigm shift. A different way of thinking, understanding and responding to Student Misbehavior. Instead of punishing (in-school and out of school suspensions) students for misbehaving in school for Minor Behavioral Code Violations. The Misbehaving Students are provided with three (3) strategies to improve their Behaviors. The first strategy, provides opportunities for Wrongdoers to be accountable to those they have harmed. Enabling them to repair the harm they have caused to the greatest extent possible. The second strategy, is to keep the Classroom Safe by building relationships and empowering the Classroom Community to take responsibility for the wellbeing of its Members. The third strategy, is to increase the Emotional Intelligence skills of those who have harmed others. Addressing the underlying factors that cause Youth to engage in delinquent behavior. Building on the strengths in each young person.
Youth Mental Health First Aid: The Workshop is designed to teach parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, peers, neighbors, health and human service workers and caring citizens on how to help an adolescent, (ages 12-18) who is experiencing a Mental Health Problem, Addictions challenge, or is in Crisis. Youth Mental Health First Aid is primarily designed for adults who regularly interact with young people. The six (6) hour On-Site or Virtual Course introduces common Mental Health Behavioral disorders (including AD/HD) and eating disorders. Teen Suicide is now the 3rd leading cause of death in the U.S.
The Zoom Mindfulness Based Meditation: This Mini Course is designed to provide students with an authentic learning experience in Meditation Practices. Students will learn a set of skills that will help to reduce the negative effects of stress and encourages the development of awareness, insight and wisdom. Students will practice breathing, walking, eating, and body scan meditation. Students who complete the ten one-hour sessions can receive a certificate of completion from the James Madison University, earning 1.0 credit hour.
The benefits derived from this Meditation practices include but are not limited to a reduction in anxiety level, fear and depression. It will allows students to take a Mental Health Break and gain a better perspectives on your life.
The Zoom Guest House: Is a safe place where you can come as you are and talk about the challenges of life. It also is a place where you can come to learn how to reduce your stress reaction to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Which has exhausted our ability to cope effectively to its harmful and debilitating health effects. Our perceived inability to cope effectively with this disease condition causes many of us to feel disconnected with ourselves. This feeling of disconnection can lead to anxiety, fear, depression, violence, and other Mental Health challenges.
The goal of this Guest House Meditation Practice and Dialogue is to help you reconnect with your intrinsic human quality we were born with or possess, and achieve a state of alert, focused relaxation, by deliberately paying attention to thoughts and sensations without judgement.
This will allow your mind to let go of those stressful stories, attitudes, and emotions we consciously and unconsciously hold onto. The holding onto of these painful experiences, thoughts and feelings affects our physical, emotional, social, academic, and spiritual health and well-being.
Aikido Self Defense for Personal Safety: Aikido is a traditional martial art of Japan. The soft and relaxed manner in which aikido classes are practiced. Promotes a positive, pleasant and safe learning environment. Aikido's main goal is to enable participants to develop positive self-esteem, emotional control and self-defense skills to protect against grabs, strikes and falls. Participants will also learn about the ethics of Self-defense and how to resolve (physical and verbal) conflict peacefully.
Effective Parenting Education: Optimal Health Enterprise, LLC, is Certified to provide parents and youth advocates the AJ Novick Effective Parenting- 10 Tools for Better Parenting. This Parenting Program is an evidence-based model designed to empower participants to better understand Parenting. Which is one of Life’s most difficult challenges. Parents or professionals will learn effective skills designed to make a difference on how they feel, how their children feel and loved ones perceive them throughout the Parenting process. Participants will learn and put into practice 10 Tools of Effective Parenting. These tools include, Parenting Basics-Things You Should Know, Understanding Your Child, Parenting Styles and Loving Your Children, Role Modeling, Empathy, Communication, Discipline, Stress Management, Children and Divorce, and Co-Parenting, Step Parenting, and Single Parenting. Each Tool will be discussed and practiced in one (1) to two (2) On Site or Virtual Sessions. All participants will receive a Certificate of Completion and/or CEU Credit upon successfully completing/attending all Sessions.
Tie Dye T-Shirt Workshop: This Mini (1 hour) Workshop is designed to provide kids and teens with instructions on how to create their own tie dye t-shirt. If you are interested in learning how to tie dye please contact us.
Workshop Cost:
Option 1: If you provide your own 100% white cotton t-shirt the fee is $7.00 including all supply.
Option 2: If you don't provide your own 100% white cotton t-shirt the fee is $12.00 including all supply.
